Rise and Fall of Civilizations

The rise and fall of civilizations cannot be explained only through wars, rulers or economic collapse. Civilizations rise when their demographic strength, knowledge systems, institutions, cultural confidence, economic capacity and social cohesion reinforce one another. They decline when these foundations weaken cumulatively. Political collapse may therefore be a symptom rather than the original cause. A civilization can survive military defeat, but sustained decline begins when it loses the capacity to reproduce its population, knowledge, institutions and cultural memory. The framework studies these interconnected processes over long periods, asking a central question: what allows a civilization to regenerate after crisis—and what prevents that regeneration?
